Meet the team

Kathryn Anthony BSC(Hons) MCOptom
Principal Optometrist

Qualifying in 1983 with a First Class Honours degree from UMIST, University of Manchester, Kathryn has worked in both the independent and corporate/multiple sector and has worked in clinical sessions at The Royal United Hospital in Bath for several years where she’s built up a good working relationship with local Ophthalmologists. She also spent two years at a specialist contact lens practice.

In 1993 Kathryn decided to open her own practice in Bath where she saw a gap in the market for a more personal service, wider choice of quality products and the highest levels of professional care.

Kathryn finds her work very rewarding and builds up lasting relationships with her patients, many of whom have been with her for more than 20 years. They value her professionalism, attention to detail and the continuity and quality of care she offers.

Matthew Edwards FBPO
Dispensing Optician

Matthew has recently joined us as our new Dispensing Optician. He has worked in optics since November 2005 with a varied background in both multiple & independent practices. Matthew is passionate about frames, lenses and finding the perfect combinations for you. He doesn’t believe in function following form or vice versa, both are equally important in his eyes when he’s helping you with your new spectacles.

Outside of the practice you’ll often find Matthew speeding down the side of a Welsh mountain aboard his mountain bike or relaxing on the canal in his kayak. This probably goes a long way to explain his keen interest in sports eyewear!

Kate Eastment
Practice Manager & Dispensing Assistant

With a certificate for the highest level of Optical practice support, Kate is integral to the successful running of the practice and she has worked for Kathryn Anthony for 13 years.

Her bright, friendly personality gives everyone a warm welcome and she has managed all aspects of the general day to day running of our busy practice. She also has 8 years of dispensing experience, laboratory and glazing work. Since returning from maternity leave, Kate is now working part time. We have adopted her beautiful little boy William as a mini member of the Kathryn Anthony Team and he always gets lots of cuddles when he comes to visit.

Naomi Daniels
Dispensing Assistant

Currently on maternity leave with her gorgeous little girl, Naomi joined us in 2013. She has worked in optics since 2008 in both the independent and high street sector, and holds a University Certificate in Ophthalmic Dispensing. Her calm and patient manner and wealth of knowledge will help you find just the right pair of glasses for you.
She has a particular interest in the holistic side of healthcare and is the ocular hygienist working alongside the optometrists in the Dry Eye Clinic.

In her spare time she enjoys nothing better than making beautiful cakes which we get to sample from time to time!

Pauline Smallacombe
Optical Assistant

Pauline joined us in March 2015 from a previous customer care background. With her warm and friendly personality she quickly became a valued member of the team and popular with our clients.

With a different hat on Pauline organises awards ceremonies and conferences in the care sector and in her spare time she loves reading and driving.

Debra Haddrell
Dispensing Assistant

An experienced dispenser, with 10 years’ in optics under her belt, Debra joined the team earlier this year and has slotted straight in. In fact it already feels like she’s been with us for years!

When she’s not helping you find the perfect pair of specs, Debra loves to travel.

Isobel Ford
Optical Assistant

Isobel is the newest member of our team and is proving very keen to learn. She joined us after completing a degree in Marine & Natural History Photography. As you might expect her passions are photography, wildlife and walking.

Isobel is particularly interested in the ocular health side of the practice, but she does have an eye for a stylish frame too!
