Meet the team

Kathryn Anthony BSC(Hons) MCOptom
Principal Optometris

Qualifying in 1983 with a First Class Honours degree from UMIST, University of Manchester, Kathryn has worked in both the independent and corporate/multiple sector and has worked in clinical sessions at The Royal United Hospital in Bath for several years where she’s built up a good working relationship with local Ophthalmologists. She also spent two years at a specialist contact lens practice.

In 1993 Kathryn decided to open her own practice in Bath where she saw a gap in the market for a more personal service, wider choice of quality products and the highest levels of professional care.

Kathryn finds her work very rewarding and builds up lasting relationships with her patients, many of whom have been with her for more than 15 years. They value her professionalism, attention to detail and the continuity and quality of care she offers.

Sarah West FBDO
Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician

Sarah joined our team in December 2014 having worked in the optical industry since 2008, qualifying as a Dispensing Optician in 2011.  She has a lovely friendly and approachable manner so fits in perfectly with our team and the Kathryn Anthony ethos.  Enjoying the challenge and variety that practice management brings she also enjoys helping clients to find the perfect pair of glasses. Since joining us, she has taken further training in Low Visual Aids and runs our Low Vision clinic with Melanie

Sarah has recently joined the board of the Local Optical Committee an organisation who represent the Optometrists in our area and liaises with the NHS on matters relating to eyecare.

In her spare time she enjoys music, both going to concerts and playing the piano and cello.

Melanie Steel FBDO

Having joined the Kathryn Anthony Team in May 2014, Melanie has been in Optics since 1989, qualifying as a Dispensing Optician in 1995. Melanie is passionate about Optics and with her friendly approach will make you feel comfortable, relaxed and confident in our care. Frame and lens selection are her key skills so we know you’ll leave us looking and feeling good.

Melanie also loves new design and technology and is excited by new products so keeps our frames and lens choice refreshed and up to the minute. She has also taken further training in Low Visual Aids.

In her spare time Melanie is a mother of 3 daughters, chairperson of the school PTA and even finds time for playing squash and roller skating.
